Bia: GPS for Women!
Hey Guys!
I wanted to let you guys all know about a new product that is looking to make a big splash among females in the fitness world.
Not only does this watch look awesome it is also super functional. It has Time, intervals, heart rate, calories. It gives you distance and pace for swim, bike, run. It boasts a quick-connect GPS; 17 hours of battery and my favorite feature a safety alert for solo workouts. I strongly believe this is something all women could benefit from.
The cool part about it is they didn’t just “pink it and shrink it!”
Yes it is smaller… and it does come in pink. But true athletic beauty is about so much more than looks. We built pretty packaging around robust multisport functionality and ANT+ connectivity, and then we made it so smart it’s simple.
***NO OTHER GPS SPORTS WATCH CAN DO THIS:***
- Safety alert for peace of mind on solo workouts
- Quick-connect GPS; no more time wasted “finding satellites”
- Data to your online training log; no more time wasted “sync’ing”
- iPod-like ease of use; just one button and a touchscreen
- Water resistance to 100M; full GPS tracking when you swim
And don’t forget full triathlon race mode and unlimited Galloway-style walk-run intervals. Plus with Bia, you become part of a community just as amazing as you, both at the starting line and online through www.bia-sport.com.
Bia is the sports training watch the “big boys” won’t make. It’s built for the 99% of us who love to sweat, but don’t have time for technology that gets in the way of our workout.
The good ladies at Bia are looking to raise $400,000 to get started and I think it is well worth a check out and to become a backer if you believe in the women’s fitness industry. I am a supporter you can be too!
Please check them out at kickstarter or their website at the below links!

Vacation Rehab
Now that I am home from vacation I need to get back into shape. Jiggles be gone!
I am starting off nice and easy today after not running since an 8 miler on Tuesday.
Today:
3 miles at an easy pace
30 minutes on elliptical
Upper Body:
3x10: Push ups, dips, pull ups, chest press, tricep press, lat pull down
Various Abs
I thought it was tough to teach kids math! It is nothing compared to teach them 4 easy dance steps to “Call Me Maybe.” My colleague found this video on YouTube and it is awesome and I wanted to share it with other teacher looking for some end of the year fun!
The end of the year is always a blast! We have had our sixth graders doing fitness challenges (burpees included), scavenger hunts, and now their FLASHMOB.
Being a teacher, especially an inner city teacher with at risk students, it is important to be a positive role model in every aspect as you would want to be with your own child. I talk fitness and sports with my students everyday. Sometimes we even run after school so the students can see that we are outside, having fun and being active. :) I’ll post the video of our lunchtime flashmob next week!

The Next Great Adventure!

I am so excited to have signed up for the Great Urban Race: NYC today! Not only do we get a weekend trip to Manhattan but we also get to explore the city in a way I have never done before. The best part is clearly the costumes. It is a good thing my team member and myself are teachers and have the whole summer off to plan. We are going to need the time because our costumes are going to be epic! Plus if you win the costume contest you get a trophy and a sash! Who wants that? I DO!
This may not be the most physical challenge but we need stamina, our iphones, a map, and our killer costumes in order to dominate. This will be my first weekend away from Coop which makes me sad, but on the other hand he has been throwing alot of tantrums lately so the break is somewhat welcome. Especially thanks to his awesome dad who is more than happy to hold down the fort for the weekend!
I just find it amazing once you step into the world of fitness how many activities are available to you. I never knew how many opportunities are out there for people who want to get outside and do things. There are activities for every fitness level, every personal taste, and every age! I feel like I can never be bored when at anytime an unusual and exciting event is either happening and coming up! So get outside and find something that suits your personal tastes and see what kind of fun you can have!

2 vs.1 workout: Can you beat a black belt?

Today’s torture 2 vs. 1 attack was based around the theme: “Can You Beat a Black Belt?” As our 1 is a black belt and a black belt instructor we were faced with a time challenge. The top black belt time was 31 minutes. We were to see if we could beat it.
Well we couldn’t but we were only a minute and a half off. So we did beat some black belts, but not the best ones. That’s probably the reason that we aren’t black belts. Although we do feel like we should receive an honorary one after this work out.
The Workout Out:
Warm up: 5 Minute Jump Rope
Workout: 50 Jump Ropes
20 Chest to Floor Push Ups
50 Jump Ropes
20 Dips
50 Jump Ropes
20 Chest to Floor Burpees
50 Jump Ropes
20 Lunges (every other one is one)
50 Jump Ropes
20 Double Arm Kettlebell throws with squat
(Repeat for 5 total sets, NO REST) My time: 32:26 Try and beat me! :)
Follow with: Upper body havoc
3 Sets assisted pull ups until failure
1 Minute: Kettlebell shoulder raises (I use 2 10lb kettlebells)
1 Minute: Kettlebell Shoulder Raises with knee to elbow squats
1 Minute: Kettlebell Mac Raises
Cool Down: Try not to puke and walk it off :) Good Luck
My trainer sent me a new workout. This is to change up my upper body work and core. Legs is not included in this set.
Falmouth Road Race

Since I spend most of the summer down the Cape, I decided to enter the lottery to run the Falmouth Road Race. It’s hailed as one of the top road races (besides marathons) in the US if not the world. It is insanly popular and insanely hard to get in to, therefore each registrant (if not a Falmouth tax payer) has to enter a lottery.
At first I cursed my parents for having a house in Dennis not Falmouth but I realized that my parents couldn’t even help me because I am too old! Strict rules, well played Falmouth, well played. But I still really want to run and even though everyone I know who has entered has been rejected (some multiple year rejects) I figure it is still worth a shot!
Fingers Crossed! (May the odds be ever in my favor)
