Interesting Article about Whole Wheats
How can bread be labeled as both white and whole wheat? Is white whole-wheat bread healthy?
from Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D.
It may seem like it doesn’t add up, but actually white whole-wheat bread is made with whole grains, just as is regular whole-wheat bread. White whole-wheat bread also is nutritionally similar to that of regular whole-wheat bread.
The difference between white...

Thursday's Workout
I am working on combing workouts from Bart Yasso’s new book and Brad Hudson’s Run Faster for my new training program for the Providence Rock N’ Roll Half. Until I get it all sorted out on to a calender I’ll just post day by day.
Today: Mile Repeats 7 Miles with 3x1 mile
This is a 1-mile warmup, run 1 mile at your 10-K pace, jog 1/2 mile for recovery. Repeat that cycle...

Wednesday's Workout
Today will be my first official training run since the 10k. Monday I worked out some soreness with yin yoga and yesterday I kick boxed. With America’s Best Defense closed for the next week for the 4th I am going to have a lot of time to focus on my running.
Trying out these bad boys for the first time (fingers crossed)
Today is also my last day with my trainer Sarah. I feel like I...

Monday Munchies
Peanut Butter Brownie Delight
I am a freak for vitamuffins. No matter how unprocessed I am working on making food for my family, I do save these for a little mommy time. Hey some women keep wine and vodka…I keep vitamuffins. Sue me. Here is my favorite way to enjoy these!
1 Deep Chocolate Vitatop 1 tsp of natural peanut butter 2 tbs of whipped cream
This tops out at around 135...

B.A.A. Second Annual 10k
Yesterday I ran in the BAA’s second annual 10k event. I have never participated in a BAA race before and had no idea how big they do it up! As soon as I arrived at the Boston Common I was in love! The biggest race I have ever run before was probably a quarter of this size so it was definitely intimidating seeing all those people (most of them who were in INCREDIBLE shape!) getting ready...

I knew you were no good for me...
Dear Adidas Sneakers,
I knew I didn’t like you from the moment I laid my eyes on you.
This is how you make me feel.
I have only run ten miles in you and you have made my knee and my Achilles tendon ache. Therefore, I have returned you, you nasty little sneakers and replaced you with these..
They may not be lovely but I feel better already!
Good luck with all future endeavors. ...

Out With the Old and In With The New!
After going from unmarried..to married…not pregnant…pregnant…not pregnant…in the last three years and a weight that has fluctuated over 95 lbs I have amassed quite a bit of clothes in every different size and color. Even though I had packed away all my maternity clothes and every season I go through clothes that I don’t wear to give to the poor I feel like I still...

Hot in Boston: Working out safe in the heat
It is H-O-T-T in Mass. this week and it just reminds me how important it is to stay safe in the heat. If you are a big baby like me you will find cooler areas like the gym, under the fan, in a dark corner away from the window to workout in.
But if you are badass you will stick to your regular workouts which may *gasp* not include AC.
Here are so tips to stay healthy in the heat mixed and...

What's for Dinner?: Whole Wheat Waffles
It is getting hot and the hotter it is the less I want hot heavy food. Therefore, I decided to whip up some waffles for Brian, Cooper, and myself for dins. I used a recipe I found on one of my all time favorite blogs “100 Days of Real Food.” I got about 4 1/2 waffles out of this recipe. I shared one with Cooper and Brian had his own. I froze the other 2 1/2 for snacks...

The Osprey Poco Plus
As a Father’s day gift for Brian my mom pitched in with me and we picked him up a new hiking backpack/Cooper carrier. We have been using an old Kelty kids one that was handed down to us by people MUCH taller than us and it just didn’t fit. When Cooper was smaller it was fine but the more weight he gains it is just too tough to carry him with hip straps that don’t fit and a...

miaoujennifer asked: I slice up a banana and spread a little bit of cookie butter on each slice. It's really tasty! Or sometimes I'm lazy and I have a teaspoon of it and eat it while I eat a banana haha.
